Improvised Armor lands as a cheap Aura that scales with your graveyard — the creature it enchants gets +1/+3 for each artifact in your bin, making it enormous in the right shell. The cost is real: it's an Aura, so you're down a card if the creature dies with it.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is where Improvised Armor has any business seeing play, specifically in artifact-heavy decks that fill the graveyard fast — Daretti, Scrap Savant or Breya, Etherium Shaper lists can turn this into a massive stat boost on a key creature. Outside of that niche, it's too narrow; the Aura-tax risk and dependency on graveyard count make it a poor fit for fair Commander decks. Legacy and Vintage are both technically legal formats for Improvised Armor, but neither wants a slow, conditional Aura when the format's threats close games before a graveyard accumulates. Skip it everywhere except purpose-built artifact graveyard strategies.

$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Improvised Armor is pure bulk — you're paying draft-chaff prices for a card that sees almost no competitive demand. It holds that floor and nothing more; pick it up freely for casual artifact builds without a second thought.
