Impervious Greatwurm is the largest indestructible creature in the game — a 16/16 that blanks targeted removal and survives every board wipe that doesn't say "exile" — and the cost is the whole problem: ten mana with no built-in way to cheat it into play. In the right shell, particularly anything running Greater Good or helmed by Baru, Wurmspeaker, that body pays off immediately; everywhere else, you're hoping to untap with it.

Commander is where Impervious Greatwurm actually lives — the format's slower clock and access to ramp, reanimation, and cost-reduction effects make ten mana reachable, and a single indestructible 16/16 can close a table in two or three swings. In Legacy and Vintage it is a curiosity at best; both formats kill you before you untap with it and have no shortage of ways to simply not interact with a creature at all. Modern and Pioneer offer neither the ramp density nor the dedicated Wurm synergies to justify it, so Impervious Greatwurm is functionally a Commander card that happens to be legal elsewhere.
