Illusory Wrappings sets a creature's power to 0 for three mana, neutralizing any attacker or blocker that relies on power to matter — and the effect sticks for as long as the enchantment does. Three mana to neuter rather than remove is a real cost, but in decks that care about power-matters triggers or want a creature alive for other reasons, it earns its slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Illusory Wrappings is legal across Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Pauper, Oathbreaker, and Vintage, but it sees virtually no play in any 60-card format where hard removal is cheaper and cleaner. Commander is where it has the most argument — enchantment-matters decks or Aura-based strategies can recoup some value from it, and the permanent nature of the effect means it survives board states where instant-speed removal would be wasted. Even there it's fringe; three mana for a power-reduction effect competes poorly against actual removal.

Price Context
Current price
$0.08 bulk tier
At $0.08, Illusory Wrappings is deep bulk — you're not buying it for value, you're buying it because it does something specific that nothing cheaper does in your exact deck. It will stay at this price indefinitely; there's no demand driver that moves bulk enchantments unless a commander breaks the effect wide open.
