Horned Kavu sees virtually no play in Legacy or Vintage despite being legal — the bounce-your-own-creature clause is too slow for those formats without a dedicated combo shell. Commander is the sweet spot: any Gruul or four-plus color deck running an Aluren line wants Horned Kavu as redundancy, and the enter-the-battlefield bounce synergizes with flicker and persist creatures across dozens of commanders.
