Hopeful Vigil replaces itself when an enchantment you control dies and leaves behind a 1/1 flying token — two meaningful effects stapled to a two-mana enchantment. It's a reliable draw engine in any deck that plans to sacrifice or recur enchantments, and the token means you're never left with nothing.

In Commander, Hopeful Vigil earns a slot in any enchantress or sacrifice-based white deck that expects its enchantments to cycle through the graveyard — the card draw alone justifies the mana, and the token gives sacrifice outlets something to chew on. In Pauper, it fits cleanly into white enchantment-focused or aura-based strategies where attrition is common and a cantripping enchantment with upside beats a blank. In Modern and Pioneer, Hopeful Vigil is too slow and conditional to compete with proactive threats, but it could see fringe use in dedicated enchantment-sacrifice shells. Legacy and Vintage have no interest in two-mana enchantments that require setup to draw a card.

Price Context
Current price
$0.16 bulk tier
At $0.16, Hopeful Vigil is pure bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not demand. The price won't move unless a major Commander precon or competitive deck adopts it en masse, so pick up copies freely and don't hesitate to trade for them.
