Hopeful Eidolon puts lifelink on whatever it enchants for one white mana — that's the whole deal, and it's worth exactly that. Unlike Ashiok's Reaper, which asks you to build around it, this is a pure aura role-player: cheap, replaceable, and fine in any shell that cares about bestow or lifelink triggers.

Hopeful Eidolon is a pauper staple in white enchantress and bestow aggro lists, where one-mana lifelink auras pull real weight. In Commander it shows up as a low-cost bestow piece in Siona, Captain of the Pyleas or Tuvasa the Sunlit shells that want cheap auras on the battlefield. Competitive formats like Modern and Legacy have no use for it — one mana for lifelink without a relevant body is below the bar. Pioneer and Vintage ignore it for the same reason.
