Historian's Wisdom replaces itself and then some — attaching a permanent Aura that draws you a card whenever the enchanted creature attacks is real value, not a one-shot cantrip. The two-mana entry cost is low enough that you're never overpaying for that ongoing engine.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

Commander is where Historian's Wisdom earns its slot, specifically in decks that attack often and want enchantments to matter — voltron builds, go-wide token strategies, and Enchantress shells all welcome a cheap Aura that keeps generating cards. Outside Commander, the competitive formats have enough efficient card draw that a two-mana conditional Aura doesn't make the cut — Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer each offer better options at the same price point. The card is legal across those formats but sees essentially no play there, and that's the right call.

Price Context
Current price
$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Historian's Wisdom is pure bulk — you're picking it up as an afterthought in a bundle or grabbing a playset for less than a pack of gum. Bulk Auras with niche Commander applications tend to stay at this price floor indefinitely, so there's no reason to hesitate on acquiring copies.
