Hero of Leina Tower

In Commander, Hero of Leina Tower is a niche role-player in dedicated heroic or spellslinger builds — it does nothing in a vacuum, but in Feather, the Redeemed or Zada, Hedron Grinder shells it becomes a legitimate early threat. Competitive non-rotating formats like Legacy and Vintage have faster, more consistent ways to build a large creature, so Hero rarely sees play there. Modern and Pioneer are theoretically legal homes, but the heroic mechanic never broke through in those formats at a competitive level, and Hero faces the same problem it does in 60-card: it demands too much setup for a one-drop payoff. Oathbreaker offers the same niche applicability as Commander — if your signature spell is a pump or cantrip that targets creatures, Hero of Leina Tower is worth a slot.
