Hedron Alignment card art
Hedron Alignment wins the game on the spot — if you control one on the battlefield, one in your hand, one in your graveyard, and one in exile, you win at the beginning of your upkeep. The setup cost is enormous: four copies of the same card distributed across four different zones, which is a multi-turn puzzle with no margin for disruption.

Format Analysis

Commander is where Hedron Alignment actually gets built around, because 100-card singleton makes assembling four copies a genuine puzzle that rewards dedicated construction — tutors, looting, and self-mill all earn their slots as zone-placement tools rather than pure card advantage. In Legacy, Modern, and Pioneer it's legal but essentially unplayed; faster, more consistent win conditions exist, and a four-card same-name combo across four zones is too slow and fragile to compete. Vintage is the same story — legal, irrelevant. Oathbreaker offers a compressed 60-card shell where a dedicated pilot could theoretically build toward it, but the format's speed doesn't favor this kind of slow-burn alternate win condition.

Price data isn't currently available for Hedron Alignment, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for the latest figure. Given that it sees virtually no competitive play and appeals to a narrow niche of combo-puzzle builders in Commander, it has historically sat well under a dollar — budget-friendly for the dedicated brewer.
