Haazda Exonerator card art
Haazda Exonerator enters the battlefield and immediately removes a -1/-1 counter from a creature you control — no activation, no mana, just a body that cleans up persist or wither damage on arrival. A 2/1 for two mana is a fair rate, but the trigger is narrow enough that you need a deck specifically built around counter manipulation to justify the slot.

Format Analysis

Haazda Exonerator is a niche piece in Commander, where it slots into persist-combo shells — think Melira, Sylvok Outcast or Nethroi, Apex of Death builds that loop creatures dying and returning with -1/-1 counters. In those decks the enter-the-battlefield trigger is a repeatable resource; everywhere else it's a vanilla 2/1. Pauper is the only competitive format where it could plausibly see play, and even there the bar for two-mana white creatures is high enough that dedicated counter-removal strategies would need to justify the inclusion over more flexible options. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters — the effect doesn't register at those power levels.

Price Context

Current price

$0.13 bulk tier

At $0.13, Haazda Exonerator is deep bulk — the kind of card you pick up as a throw-in without thinking about it. Bulk commons with narrow, build-around triggers rarely appreciate unless a new commander makes them a combo piece, so don't expect this price to move.
