Grafted Identity steals any creature on the board and turns a token you control into the sacrifice cost — you get their best threat and they watch it fight for you. Five mana for a permanent Mind Control that requires no ongoing enchantment to maintain is a clean deal, and the sacrifice rider rarely matters when your deck is already generating tokens.

In Commander, Grafted Identity is a permanent, unconditional steal at five mana — no enchantment to remove, no upkeep cost, and the sacrifice requirement is a minor tax in any shell running tokens or expendable creatures. Competitive formats are a different story: Modern and Legacy are too fast for a five-mana sorcery that does nothing until your next turn, and Pioneer has enough cheap interaction to punish tapping out this late on that kind of effect. Oathbreaker can support it in the right planeswalker shell with token production, but Commander is comfortably where Grafted Identity does its best work.

Price Context
Current price
$0.21 bulk tier
At $0.21, Grafted Identity is bulk — pick it up without thinking twice if the effect fits your deck. Demand is low enough that the price is unlikely to move unless a popular commander pushes theft synergies into the spotlight, so treat it as a stable, cheap inclusion rather than something to speculate on.
