Goldnight Redeemer card art
Goldnight Redeemer enters and gains you 2 life per other creature you control — in a token-flooded board, that's 20+ life the turn it arrives. The cost is six mana for a 4/4 with no evasion, so you're running it because Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker or a similar flicker loop turns one life-swing into an infinite one, not because a vanilla body is worth the slot.

Format Analysis

Goldnight Redeemer is a Commander card through and through — the format's slower pace, larger boards, and infinite-combo infrastructure are exactly what justify six mana for a triggered life-gain effect. In Legacy and Vintage it's a non-starter: the format speed and lack of persistent creature boards make the trigger nearly worthless. Modern is legal but similarly unrewarding outside of fringe flicker or token builds that have cheaper options at every step. Oathbreaker is the one non-Commander 60-card format where it can briefly shine, specifically in white creature-token strategies that can reliably flood the board before turn six.

Price Context

Current price

$0.17 bulk tier

At $0.17, Goldnight Redeemer is deep bulk — pick it out of a commons box or add it to any order as a throw-in. That price is stable: the card sees too little competitive play to spike, but combo-focused Commander players who want the Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker line will always need a copy, so it won't fall further.
