Glare of Subdual turns every token or creature you can tap into a repeatable, free Icy Manipulator — at enchantment speed, it locks your opponents out of attacking or blocking for as long as you keep making bodies. Pair it with Emmara, Soul of the Accord and you have a self-feeding engine where tapping Emmara to activate Glare of Subdual immediately produces the next tapper, and stacking Intruder Alarm on top turns that loop into a hard lock.

Emmara, Soul of the Accord
Emmara, Soul of the Accord is the canonical Glare of Subdual home because her tap trigger generates the exact resource the enchantment consumes — tap Emmara, make a token, tap the token next turn, make another — and Glare of Subdual converts that incremental token production into a table-wide stax piece that keeps opponents' boards permanently tapped down.

Glare of Subdual is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it's almost exclusively a Commander card — the four-mana cost and reliance on a wide board is too slow to matter in 60-card formats where games end before you build the critical mass it needs. In Commander, the threat density is exactly right: token strategies flood the board by turn four or five, and Glare of Subdual converts that presence into a soft lock that forces opponents to answer the enchantment before they can attack. It's not a staple in every green-white deck, but in any shell generating three or more creatures per turn cycle it earns its slot.
