Gift of the Deity turns any multicolored creature into a one-card army: deathtouch plus vigilance means it trades with anything that blocks and still untaps swinging back next turn. Five mana for an Aura is the ceiling you're paying, and on Maarika, Brutal Gladiator — who already wants to fight and survive — that rate is completely worth it.

Gift of the Deity is a Commander card first and last — the 100-card singleton format is exactly the environment where a five-mana Aura that does two things can justify its slot on a single high-value creature. In Pauper it's technically legal but the format's efficient threats and removal make slow Auras a liability; don't bother. Legacy and Vintage have no interest in this effect at this mana cost when the format is doing broken things on turn one or two. Commander is where Gift of the Deity lives, specifically in Golgari or Jund decks built around a multicolored combat threat that can exploit the deathtouch-vigilance combination every turn.
