Genju of the Fields card art
Genju of the Fields animates a Plains into a 2/5 Spirit for two mana at instant speed, giving you a relevant blocker or attacker that dodges most land destruction by bouncing back to hand when it dies. The ceiling is real in lifegain-matters builds, but a 2/5 with lifelink is a slow clock, and white has better enchantment-land payoffs at the same cost.

In Commander, Genju of the Fields is a fringe inclusion in landfall or Spirit-tribal lists that also care about lifegain — commanders like Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn or Trelasarra, Moon Dancer can convert each combat trigger into meaningful life totals, but the card rarely makes the cut over more impactful enchantments. In Legacy and Vintage it sees essentially no play; the formats move too fast for a two-mana enchantment that produces a 2/5 and nothing else. Modern is theoretically legal but there's no competitive home for it. Genju of the Fields is a casual Commander card, full stop.
