Frontline Medic card art
Frontline Medic makes your attacking creatures indestructible as a battalion trigger, then tacks on the ability to counter X spells for free — two relevant effects on a three-mana body. Éowyn, Shieldmaiden decks run it in over 72% of lists because both halves pull weight in a go-wide combat deck.

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Éowyn, Shieldmaiden

Éowyn, Shieldmaiden

72.6% of decks · synergy 0.68

Éowyn, Shieldmaiden rewards you for attacking with three or more creatures anyway, so Frontline Medic's battalion trigger slides in for free — indestructible attackers means your whole board survives combat math that would otherwise wipe your team.

02
Nalia de'Arnise

Nalia de'Arnise

62.8% of decks · synergy 0.61

Nalia de'Arnise builds around Rogues, Warriors, and Clerics hitting the battlefield together, and Frontline Medic slots in as both a Cleric that fills out the party count and a combat safety net for the wide attacks Nalia's payoffs demand.

03
Burakos, Party LeaderFolk Hero

Burakos, Party Leader // Folk Hero

56.8% of decks · synergy 0.55

Burakos, Party Leader // Folk Hero wants a full party to maximize treasure production and Folk Hero's draw trigger, and Frontline Medic fills the Cleric slot while protecting the swarm of creatures those triggers require to stay alive through combat.

04
The Destined Warrior

The Destined Warrior

46.2% of decks · synergy 0.46

The Destined Warrior pushes hard into the Warrior type, and Frontline Medic's battalion trigger turns every three-Warrior attack into a one-sided combat — your team lives, theirs doesn't.

In Commander, Frontline Medic earns its slot in any white deck that attacks with multiple creatures — the indestructible trigger is free insurance, and the X-spell counterspell staples onto the same body at no extra cost. In Modern and Pioneer, it never found a home; three mana for a 3/3 is reasonable but battalion is too hard to guarantee in formats where games end fast and opponents hold removal. Legacy is technically legal but irrelevant — the card doesn't come close to the power threshold there. Frontline Medic is fundamentally a Commander card: multiplayer politics make wide attacks easier to assemble, and the X-spell answer hits Torment of Hailfire, Rolling Thunder, and Walking Ballista lines that show up constantly at that table.

$0.29 bulk tier

At $0.29, Frontline Medic is clean bulk — you're getting a lot of functional text for almost nothing. The price is stable; this is a card that sees consistent Commander demand but wide enough print distribution that it won't spike.
