Fork in the Road searches two basic lands and puts one in hand — a net of one land in play at sorcery speed for two mana, which is exactly what Cultivate and Kodama's Reach already do better. The discard rider makes it strictly worse than those staples in any deck that can run them, so Fork in the Road belongs only where redundancy past copies four and five is genuinely necessary.

In Commander, Fork in the Road is a fifth or sixth copy of the Cultivate effect, relevant only in landfall decks or strategies that want as many two-mana land-fetchers as possible — think Aesi, Tyrant of Gyre Strait or The Gitrog Monster. In Pauper it's a legitimate option since the competition is thinner at common, and the one-land-to-hand line is functional in land-synergy shells. Legacy, Vintage, and Modern have no interest — those formats either ignore basic-land ramp entirely or have access to fetchlands that do the job without the discard. Pioneer is the one middle ground where Fork in the Road could see fringe play in a dedicated lands deck, but even there it's competing with more efficient options.

Price Context
Current price
$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Fork in the Road is deep bulk — pick it out of a commons box rather than paying shipping for it. Price stability is a non-issue; it will stay at this floor indefinitely because supply from draft chaff vastly outpaces any niche demand.
