Forbidden Lore card art
Forbidden Lore enchants a land to give all your creatures +1/+1 and trample — a permanent, unconditional anthem effect that scales with board size and punches through blockers. The cost is real: you're taxing a land, so dropping it early can stall development, but in a creature-heavy shell that reaches a stable board state it's a flat upgrade with no expiration date.

Forbidden Lore is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, and that's where the conversation starts and ends — Modern, Pioneer, Standard, and Pauper all exclude it. In Commander it has a narrow but real niche in go-wide green or Selesnya token strategies where a static trample anthem closes games that stall at parity; the land tax matters less at 40 life with ramp available. Legacy and Vintage have faster, more powerful payoffs for three mana, so Forbidden Lore never competes seriously there. Oathbreaker is its best non-Commander home, where the lower life total and faster clock make a permanent board-wide trample effect more meaningful.

unknown tier

Pricing data for Forbidden Lore isn't currently available, so check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for a live number. It's an obscure enchantment from an older set with limited competitive demand, which historically keeps cards like this well under a dollar — don't expect to pay much, and don't expect the price to move.
