Flamecache Gecko is a Commander card through and through — the ping-on-entry effect is too slow and low-impact for competitive 60-card formats where a one-damage trigger rarely closes a game. In Modern and Pioneer it would need a dedicated aristocrats shell to generate enough loops to matter, and those shells have faster, more reliable payoffs.
