In Commander, Flame Blitz is a late-game finisher in spellslinger builds where the graveyard fills naturally over 10-plus turns — hitting a player for 15 or more off a single red mana is the kind of asymmetry that ends games. Legacy and Vintage have the raw cantrip density to make it lethal early, but both formats have faster, more consistent kill conditions that push Flame Blitz to the fringe. Modern can fill a graveyard quickly enough through looting and cantrips, but the lack of a built-in payoff mechanic means it competes poorly with dedicated burn or combo packages. Flame Blitz is squarely a Commander card.
