Firebrand Ranger puts a land from your hand onto the battlefield — tapped — whenever it attacks, which is a fine effect stapled to a fragile 2/1 for two mana that dies to everything. The cost is real: attack triggers mean you telegraph the ramp, leave it open to blocks, and miss the land drop entirely if it gets chumped or removed before combat damage.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Firebrand Ranger is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but Legacy and Vintage have no interest in a 2/1 that slowly deploys lands when those formats end games on turns one through three. Commander is the only home where Firebrand Ranger is even worth discussing, and there it competes against a deep bench of unconditional ramp — Cultivate, Kodama's Reach, and countless others — that don't require surviving to an attack step. It finds a niche only in creature-centric red-green decks that want redundancy on land-drop effects and are already running the consensus ramp pieces.

Price Context
Current price
$0.23 bulk tier
At $0.23, Firebrand Ranger is pure bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not power. That price is stable in the sense that there's no demand pressure to push it higher.
