Fight or Flight splits your opponents' creatures into two groups each upkeep — one can attack you, one can't — which on a four-player table effectively neuters the two most dangerous boards aimed at you every single turn. Four mana to cast and zero mana to maintain is an absurd rate for that kind of passive protection, and The Celestial Toymaker builds around it as a core lock piece.

The Celestial Toymaker
The Celestial Toymaker's game plan involves imposing rules on the table, and Fight or Flight is one of the most oppressive rules available — splitting every opponent's attackers turn after turn synergizes directly with the forced-participation and alternate-win-condition angles the deck runs.
Format Analysis

Fight or Flight is a Commander card through and through — its power scales with the number of opponents, and in a four-player pod it's doing three times the work it would in a duel. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but sees no play; at four mana in a two-player format, the effect is a slower Ghostly Prison without the taxing upside, which isn't worth a slot. Commander and Oathbreaker are the only homes where Fight or Flight earns its place, and in Commander specifically it functions as a repeating fog that requires zero activation — exactly the kind of card that quietly wins games by keeping you alive long enough to execute your plan.

Price Context
Current price
$1.94 cheap tier
At $1.94, Fight or Flight sits in the cheap tier despite being a genuine staple in the decks that want it. The price reflects modest supply more than modest demand — it hasn't been reprinted broadly, but it also hasn't spiked, so this is a reasonable buy-in for a card that pulls real weight in any white enchantment or stax shell.
