Sorcery
Discard a card, then draw a card. When you discard a nonland card this way, Fiery Encore deals damage equal to that card's mana value to target creature or planeswalker.

Fiery Encore deals damage equal to a dying creature's power to any target — free, repeatable, on-board reach that turns your sacrifice outlet into a burn engine. The catch is that it only triggers on your own creatures dying during your turn, which limits its ceiling in slower or reactive builds.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Fiery Encore does its best work, slotting cleanly into sacrifice-matters decks that want passive damage output without spending cards — Prossh, Skyraider of Kher and Korvold, Fae-Cursed King shells appreciate every free trigger they can stack. Legacy and Vintage make it technically legal but have no practical home for it; the effect is too slow and conditional to compete at those tables. Outside of Commander and Oathbreaker, Fiery Encore doesn't exist in any sanctioned format, so this is a 99-card card through and through.

Price Context
Current price
$0.28 bulk tier
At $0.28, Fiery Encore sits firmly in bulk territory — you're not paying for scarcity, you're paying for cardboard. Bulk rares rarely climb unless a new commander explicitly breaks them, and nothing on the horizon suggests Fiery Encore is that card, so grab it cheap and don't expect the price to move.
