Field Trip card art
Field Trip fetches a Forest onto the battlefield tapped and replaces itself — two meaningful effects on one sorcery for three mana. It sits a step below Cultivate and Kodama's Reach on rate, but it does the same core job at common rarity.

In Commander, Field Trip is a serviceable budget slot — it ramps and replaces itself, which is exactly what a three-mana green sorcery needs to do to earn a spot. Competitive lists will always prefer Cultivate or Kodama's Reach since they fetch two lands, but Field Trip is a clean substitute once those are in use or out of budget. In Pauper, where commons only compete against commons, Field Trip is a legitimate inclusion in any green ramp shell that wants redundancy on the Cultivate effect. Modern, Pioneer, Legacy, and Vintage don't want it — faster formats demand ramp that either costs less or does more, and Field Trip clears neither bar.

Price Context

Current price

$0.09 bulk tier

At $0.09, Field Trip is deep bulk — you'll find copies in any common box or dollar bin without trying. The price reflects its status as a redundant effect behind strictly better alternatives, and there's no realistic ceiling to watch.
