Fallowsage card art
Fallowsage draws a card whenever it becomes untapped — pair it with Freed from the Real and any blue mana producer and you have an unbounded draw engine on a single Merfolk body. Kasla, the Broken Halo turns that loop into a trivially assembled win condition, which is exactly why Fallowsage shows up in over half of all Kasla lists.

Commanders with the highest synergy

Kasla, the Broken Halo

Kasla, the Broken Halo

50.7% of decks · synergy 0.50

Kasla, the Broken Halo's untap-matters gameplan makes Fallowsage a near-mandatory inclusion — Kasla can assemble the untap loop herself, turning Fallowsage into an engine that draws the entire deck and closes the game on the spot.

02
Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca

Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca

41.9% of decks · synergy 0.41

Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca taps and untaps Merfolk repeatedly to spread counters and draw cards, and Fallowsage triggers on every untap — the two cards generate compounding value the moment Kumena starts activating.

Format Analysis

Commander is Fallowsage's natural home: the 100-card singleton format rewards dedicated combo pieces, and Fallowsage's untap trigger plugs cleanly into a wide range of infinite-untap lines available in blue. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but has never registered — the effect is too slow and too conditional for those formats' threat density. Modern is the same story: a 2/2 for three mana that does nothing the turn it enters isn't competing there. Fallowsage is a Commander card through and through, and its 50% inclusion rate in Kasla lists confirms that niche is real.

Price Context

Current price

$0.40 bulk tier

At $0.40, Fallowsage is bulk in every sense — zero barrier to entry for a card that goes infinite in the right shell. Bulk combo pieces tend to stay flat unless a new commander pushes them into the spotlight, and Kasla's continued popularity makes a slow creep upward plausible, but at this price you're not buying it for the financial upside.
