Fallen Ideal card art
Fallen Ideal turns any creature into a suicide bomber — sacrifice your board, stack flying and trample, swing for lethal out of nowhere. The catch is that it buries itself with the creature when that creature dies, so you get one window, and Solemnity or any counter-removal shuts the door before you open it. Killian, Decisive Mentor cuts the equip-style cost in half and makes the whole line consistent enough to build around.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Killian, Decisive Mentor

Killian, Decisive Mentor

27.8% of decks · synergy 0.26

Killian, Decisive Mentor's static ability reduces the cost of spells that target creatures, which means Fallen Ideal hits the board cheaper and the sacrifice outlet stays online faster — that combination of cost reduction and access to white and black removal makes Killian the most natural home for the card.

02
Eriette, the Beguiler

Eriette, the Beguiler

22.7% of decks · synergy 0.22

Eriette, the Beguiler wants enchantments on creatures as a matter of course, and Fallen Ideal provides a late-game kill switch when those enchanted creatures have outlived their political usefulness — sacrifice them for a lethal flying swing rather than letting opponents untap with them.

03
Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder

Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder

12.3% of decks · synergy 0.12

Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder generates a steady stream of Thrull tokens that would otherwise threaten to destroy him, so Fallen Ideal converts that surplus fodder directly into a massive power spike on a single attacker rather than letting the token count become a liability.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict
commander

modern

vintage

oathbreaker

Commander is where Fallen Ideal actually earns its slot — 100-card singleton games run long enough that the one-shot kill window it creates becomes a legitimate threat, and the density of sacrifice synergies in black-white shells makes the setup cheap. In Legacy and Vintage it's technically legal but competes with too many faster, more resilient threat packages to see real play. Modern is the same story: the card asks for a board state to cash in, and Modern answers are too efficient to let that board survive long enough. Oathbreaker offers a smaller-scale version of the Commander dynamic, and Fallen Ideal is playable there if your signature spell protects the enchanted creature through your turn.

Price Context

Current price

$0.27 bulk tier

At $0.27, Fallen Ideal is bulk — pick it up in any trade binder without thinking twice. The price reflects its narrow application rather than its ceiling; in the right deck it closes games, but casual demand alone won't push it off the bulk shelf.
