Expedition Map card art
Expedition Map tutors any land directly to your hand for a total investment of three mana and two cards, which is the cleanest answer to 'what land do I need right now' that colorless can offer. It earns a slot in any deck whose gameplan depends on a specific land — and in Omo, Queen of Vesuva builds, where finding Vesuva or Thespian's Stage is the difference between your engine firing and stalling.

Commander is where Expedition Map does its best work — singleton means the land you need most is always exactly one copy deep, and three total mana for unconditional land tutoring is a price Commander is happy to pay. In Pauper it's a legitimate staple, enabling Tron assembles and utility-land packages at a common rate. Modern sees it almost exclusively in Tron, where finding the third Tron piece on turn two is worth the tempo cost. In Legacy, Pioneer, and Vintage the competition from cheaper or more flexible tutors pushes Expedition Map to the margins, but it remains legal and occasionally correct in land-combo shells.
