Executioner's Swing

In Commander, Executioner's Swing punches above its price point because the format is full of high-power threats — Blightsteel Colossus, Craterhoof Behemoth, enormous dragons — and this answers them all at instant speed for two mana. The combat restriction is almost irrelevant in a format where big creatures are attacking every turn. In Pauper it competes in a tighter removal ecosystem where unconditional options like Doom Blade and Cast Down often edge it out, though the power-4-or-greater clause occasionally matters for dodging protection. In Modern and Pioneer the same problem applies at a higher level; Executioner's Swing sees essentially no competitive play there because the format's best threats either don't attack in the conventional sense or die to cheaper answers.
