In 60-card formats, a six-mana 4/4 that requires attacking to close games is far too slow and fragile — removal at any point in the chain ends the game plan entirely. Commander is where the math works: higher starting life totals mean the swap produces a bigger creature, multiplayer tables give you time to assemble the pieces, and one-shot lethal via combat or a fling effect is a legitimate game-ending threat.
