Eternal Warrior gives a creature pseudo-vigilance for a single red mana — tap to attack, untap at end of combat, keep blocking. It's narrow enough that only commanders who need to attack and block repeatedly on the same turn will want it, but in those shells it punches above its cost.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Eternal Warrior is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but the formats where it actually earns a slot are narrow. In Commander, it shows up on aggressive commanders who function as both the damage engine and the blocker — the effect is redundant in most lists but essential in a few. Pauper is the format most likely to get real mileage out of it, where common-legal untap effects are scarce and the one-mana cost matters. Legacy and Vintage have access to better options at every point on the curve, so Eternal Warrior rarely makes the cut there.
