Eternal Scourge card art
Eternal Scourge is a three-mana 3/3 that can't be permanently answered — exile it and it goes to exile, where it waits to be recast for free, making it one of the few creatures that actually wants to be exiled. That recursive exile loop is the entire reason it exists in Food Chain combo shells, and commanders like Cazur, Ruthless Stalker // Ukkima, Stalking Shadow run it specifically to generate infinite mana off that interaction.

Cazur, Ruthless Stalker // Ukkima, Stalking Shadow

23.3% of decks · synergy 0.22

Cazur, Ruthless Stalker // Ukkima, Stalking Shadow is the premier Food Chain commander in Sultai, and Eternal Scourge is one of the three creatures that makes that combo function — exile it with Food Chain for more mana than it costs, recast it from exile, repeat for infinite colored mana.

The Master, Transcendent

The Master, Transcendent

14.3% of decks · synergy 0.13

The Master, Transcendent clones creatures and cares about exile-based recursion, and Eternal Scourge's ability to return from exile on its own makes it a resilient, repeatable target that never truly leaves the game.

03
Atraxa, Grand Unifier

Atraxa, Grand Unifier

13.3% of decks · synergy 0.10

Atraxa, Grand Unifier hits multiple card types on her ETB, and Eternal Scourge slots in as a creature that pulls double duty — a hit off the Atraxa trigger that also anchors a Food Chain line if the deck is built to support it.

Eternal Scourge sees its most meaningful play in Commander, where Food Chain combo is a legitimate competitive strategy and the singleton rule makes redundant exile-recursion creatures valuable. In Legacy, it has seen fringe play alongside Food Chain in Elves or dedicated combo shells, though the format's speed limits how often a three-mana 3/3 with no immediate impact survives long enough to matter. Modern and Pioneer both allow it, but neither format has a Food Chain shell that makes it worth running, and a vanilla 3/3 for three with no enters-the-battlefield effect has no realistic rate in either. Vintage and Oathbreaker are legal but functionally irrelevant for this card — the recursive exile text only pays off in a dedicated Food Chain engine, which lives in Commander.

Pricing data for Eternal Scourge isn't currently available here — check Scryfall or TCGPlayer for a live number. Given its narrow but real role as a Food Chain combo piece in Commander, it tends to carry a modest premium over a bulk rare, but it's not a format staple with broad demand driving the price up.
