Essence Symbiote is a bulk rare in every format it's legal in, and competitive demand is essentially zero outside Commander. In Modern and Pioneer, mutate as a mechanic hasn't found a viable shell, so Essence Symbiote sits on the shelf. Pauper doesn't have the mutate density to make it worth a slot.
