Ephara's Enlightenment puts a +1/+1 counter and flying on any creature for three mana, then bounces itself to your hand whenever that creature enters the battlefield again — a reusable aura that dodges most removal by design. It's a legitimate engine in token-flicker and enter-the-battlefield strategies, but it does nothing if you aren't already looping creatures.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Ephara's Enlightenment is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but it only sees real play in Commander. In 60-card formats the self-bounce mechanic is too slow and too reliant on supporting infrastructure that those formats don't reward. Commander is where the card earns its slot — specifically in decks that flicker, recur, or repeatedly bounce their own creatures, where Ephara's Enlightenment generates ongoing value without needing to recast it each cycle.

Price Context
Current price
$0.08 bulk tier
At $0.08, Ephara's Enlightenment is deep bulk — it costs less than a sleeve. That price is stable by inertia rather than demand, so don't expect it to move, but there's no reason not to own a copy if the deck calls for it.
