Endless Swarm card art
Endless Swarm puts a Snake token into play for each card in your hand — repeatedly, every time it resolves — which makes it a late-game bomb in any shell that can abuse the epic trigger, especially alongside Eye of the Storm. The cost is steep: seven mana to cast, and epic locks you out of casting other spells for the rest of the game, so it has to end things.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict
commander

modern
pioneer

vintage
pauper
oathbreaker

Endless Swarm is a Commander card through and through — the format's higher starting hand sizes, slower pacing, and abundance of draw engines let you build toward the double-digit token outputs that make epic actually threatening. In Legacy and Vintage, it's technically legal but utterly unplayable; seven mana for a win-more effect doesn't exist in those formats. Modern follows the same logic — the format is too fast and too interactive for a sorcery that asks you to never cast another spell. Commander is where Endless Swarm finds its only real home, and even there it demands a dedicated hand-size strategy to be worth the slot.

Price Context

Current price

$2.01 cheap tier

At $2.01, Endless Swarm sits at the low end of niche casual mythics — cheap enough to pick up on a whim, but its narrow application keeps demand (and therefore price) flat. It won't climb without a new commander that breaks hand-size or epic synergies wide open.
