Endemic Plague wipes the board of every creature that shares a type with one you sacrifice — a one-sided reset if you build around it, a symmetrical disaster if you don't. Five mana for a conditional Wrath is the cost, and it's worth paying only when you control the creature type it targets.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Endemic Plague actually lives. Tribal decks — Goblins, Elves, Zombies, Humans — can engineer the sacrifice trigger to obliterate an opponent's board while leaving their own creatures untouched, and with three opponents in the room, the tempo swing is enormous. Legacy and Vintage are legal formats but Endemic Plague sees no play there; five mana at sorcery speed doesn't compete in those environments, and the creature-type dependency adds too many conditions for a format that demands immediacy. Oathbreaker is legal and the tribal synergy argument applies at lower power, but the smaller card pool and faster games reduce how often the setup pays off cleanly.

Price Context
Current price
$0.23 bulk tier
At $0.23, Endemic Plague is bulk — the kind of card you pull from a box rather than buy. It's unlikely to spike unless a dominant tribal deck pushes it into the spotlight, so there's no urgency to stock up, but picking up copies at this price is essentially free.
