Drix Fatemaker puts a payoff on the board the turn you need it — the question is always what you're giving up to get there. Outside of Dyadrine, Synthesis Amalgam shells purpose-built around its trigger, the opportunity cost rarely justifies the slot.

Dyadrine, Synthesis Amalgam
Dyadrine, Synthesis Amalgam triggers off exactly the kind of recursive, cost-manipulating play that Drix Fatemaker enables, making this a near-automatic include in that deck — the 27% inclusion rate reflects a genuine engine piece, not a pet card.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Drix Fatemaker is legal across every major format, but it's doing real work almost exclusively in Commander, where the singleton rule and longer games let its effect compound over multiple turns. In competitive 60-card formats — Modern, Pioneer, Legacy — the effect isn't efficient enough to displace purpose-built pieces that do similar things faster. Pauper is the one exception worth watching: if a commons-legal shell ever needs exactly what Drix Fatemaker offers, the price ceiling is already zero. For now, file it as a Commander card.

$0.07 bulk tier
At $0.07, Drix Fatemaker is deep bulk — no price risk, no acquisition friction, just grab a copy if the deck calls for it. Bulk rares this niche don't climb without a breakout deck, so don't expect movement unless Dyadrine, Synthesis Amalgam strategies spike in popularity.
