Dream Tides
Enchantment
Creatures don't untap during their controllers' untap steps.
At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player may choose any number of tapped nongreen creatures they control and pay for each creature chosen this way. If the player does, untap those creatures.

Dream Tides locks down every creature that isn't blue or black unless its controller pays two mana per untap step — at four mana, that's a sustained tax engine that compounds fast in multiplayer. If your deck can keep it on the table, it's a stranglehold; if your table runs blue-heavy pods, it ranges from marginal to embarrassing.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Dream Tides does its best work — three opponents means the cumulative tax pressure multiplies immediately, and enchantment-based stax is harder to interact with than creature-based equivalents. Decks piloted by Arcanis the Omnipotent, Talrand, Sky Summoner, or any blue-black control commander can run it essentially for free since their own creatures are exempt. In Legacy and Vintage, the card is legal but irrelevant — those formats move too fast for a four-mana enchantment that doesn't immediately affect the board to matter. Oathbreaker is the one other home worth mentioning, where the smaller life totals and tighter resource environments make the two-mana-per-creature tax sting noticeably earlier.

Price Context
Current price
$0.37 bulk tier
At $0.37, Dream Tides sits firmly in bulk territory — it's never been a chase card and supply is plentiful enough that the price isn't going anywhere. For stax builds that want this effect, it's an easy pickup that costs less than a sleeve.
