Diamond City card art
Diamond City enters tapped and produces colorless mana, but the payoff is a steady stream of tokens and artifacts that reward token-centric and sacrifice-based strategies far beyond what a simple land can offer. Caesar, Legion's Emperor decks run it in nearly half their lists because it feeds his combat damage triggers with minimal additional investment — it's a staple for the archetype, not a flex slot.

Diamond City is a Commander card through and through — its value compounds over a long game with multiple opponents and creature-heavy boards, conditions that simply don't exist in 1v1 formats. Legacy and Vintage permit it, but the land slot competition in those formats is brutal and a tapped land with conditional upside never makes the cut. Commander and Oathbreaker are where Diamond City actually sees play, slotting into token, sacrifice, and Fallout-themed decks that can exploit its output turn after turn. Outside of a dedicated creature-token shell, it's too slow and too conditional to justify the tapped entry.
