Dai Li Agents

Creature — Human Soldier

When this creature enters, earthbend 1, then earthbend 1. (To earthbend 1, target land you control becomes a 0/0 creature with haste that's still a land. Put a +1/+1 counter on it. When it dies or is exiled, return it to the battlefield tapped.)
Whenever this creature attacks, each opponent loses X life and you gain X life, where X is the number of creatures you control with +1/+1 counters on them.

Dai Li Agents card art
Dai Li Agents enters and immediately steals a creature from each opponent until end of turn — that's up to three bodies swinging for you at no mana premium beyond the five to cast it. The catch is the effect doesn't stick, but pair it with Ashaya, Soul of the Wild and those borrowed creatures become lands, opening loops that make the temporary theft permanent in practice.

Dai Li Agents is a Commander card through and through — the effect scales with opponent count, so the three-player baseline is where it actually earns its slot. In 1v1 formats like Legacy, Modern, or Pioneer, stealing one creature for a turn at five mana is a tempo play that rarely justifies the cost when cheaper, permanent theft exists. Standard has better options at this price point. Oathbreaker shares Commander's multiplayer math and is the one other format where Dai Li Agents can pull real weight.

Price Context

Current price

$0.29 bulk tier

At $0.29, Dai Li Agents sits firmly in bulk territory, which is accurate for a niche five-mana effect with a narrow home. It's unlikely to appreciate unless a combo-centric commander pushes it into the spotlight, but the floor is already the floor — no risk buying a copy to try.
