Curse of Echoes turns every instant or sorcery the cursed player casts into a free copy for each opponent — at six mana it's expensive, but the effect snowballs immediately the turn anyone casts a draw spell, a tutor, or a board wipe. In Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor builds it's the obvious centerpiece, but it earns a slot in any blue shell that wants to punish spell-heavy tables.

Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor
Lynde, Cheerful Tormentor wants Curse of Echoes in play because every instant or sorcery the cursed opponent casts generates free value for the whole table — which means Lynde's draw trigger fires while opponents do the work of filling your hand.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Curse of Echoes actually does anything — three opponents means every spell the cursed player casts triggers two additional copies, and a well-placed target (the table's storm player, the tutor-heavy blue mage) warps the game immediately. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but irrelevant; six mana enchantments that help opponents copy spells don't survive those formats' pace or interaction density. Modern is similarly legal and similarly unplayable outside fringe casual tables. Oathbreaker is the one fringe format worth mentioning: smaller life totals and a consistent spell-slinging commander can make Curse of Echoes land faster, but the 20-life clock usually ends games before the enchantment generates enough value.

Price Context
Current price
$0.54 bulk tier
At $0.54, Curse of Echoes is firmly bulk — a six-mana blue enchantment with a narrow, commander-focused use case keeps the price floor low and stable. It's not going to spike unless a new commander pushes curse synergies into the mainstream, so this is a safe pickup at current price with no expectation of movement.
