Cry of the Carnarium card art
Cry of the Carnarium wipes all small creatures off the board and exiles them, shutting down graveyard recursion in the same motion — for two mana. It's the correct pick over Ritual of Soot any time your meta runs Meren, Arclight Phoenix, or any token engine that cares about death triggers.

In Commander, Cry of the Carnarium earns its slot as a cheap, exile-stapled board wipe against the token and aristocrats decks that dominate the format — two mana at sorcery speed is a real cost, but the exile clause makes it a hard answer rather than a soft one. In Pioneer and Modern, it occupies a narrow sideboard role: it answers Young Pyromancer tokens and Cauldron Familiar loops cleanly, but the sorcery speed and toughness ceiling mean it misses too many relevant threats to see main-deck play. Legacy has enough cheap interaction that a two-mana sorcery wipe rarely makes the cut. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander's dynamic closely, where cheap sweepers with exile upside are premium.

Price Context

Current price

$0.13 bulk tier

At $0.13, Cry of the Carnarium is deep bulk — you're paying less than a sleeve for an effect that would cost several dollars in foil or on a more popular card. The price is stable at that floor; widespread Commander adoption would nudge it up, but demand hasn't materialized enough to move it off the bulk bin.
