Crosswinds card art
Crosswinds blanket-removes flying from all creatures on the board for two mana, which is a one-card answer to any air-based aggro plan. The effect is symmetrical and permanent until Crosswinds leaves, so it rewards decks that were never using flying in the first place.

Format Analysis

In Commander, Crosswinds occupies a narrow but real slot against blue-heavy tables where flyers like Consecrated Sphinx, Kaalia of the Vast, or a Dragon tribal commander are dominating the air — two mana to ground an entire board state is efficient hate. Outside Commander, Crosswinds is legal in Legacy and Vintage but sees essentially no play there; the environments move too fast and too surgically for a symmetrical enchantment that does nothing to board state on resolution. Oathbreaker is the same story as Commander at a smaller table, where it can shine against the right opposing signature spell package.

Price Context

Current price

$0.19 bulk tier

At $0.19, Crosswinds is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard and postage, not the effect. Price stability is a non-issue; it'll sit in this tier indefinitely unless a future commander makes grounding flyers a format-wide priority.
