Corrupted Resolve counters a spell and makes its controller lose 4 life — but only if you control a corrupted opponent, meaning they need at least ten poison counters first. In a dedicated Phyrexian/infect shell that reliably poisons opponents, it's a two-mana counterspell with a meaningful life-loss rider; outside that context, it's a conditional Negate that may never trigger.

Corrupted Resolve is a Commander card almost by default — the 100-card singleton format gives infect and poison-counter strategies the critical mass of support they need to make the corrupted condition consistently active. In Legacy and Vintage, the condition is nearly impossible to satisfy against competent opponents, and two-mana counterspells without universal application don't clear the bar in formats where Force of Will and Counterspell exist. Modern is similarly hostile; no poison-based control shell has the consistency to make Corrupted Resolve reliable. In Commander, specifically at tables running Atraxa, Praetors' Voice or Skithiryx, the Black Dragon, the 4-life drain is a real punisher against opponents who've already been under pressure, and the conditional cost becomes acceptable given how those decks operate.

Price Context
Current price
$0.26 bulk tier
At $0.26, Corrupted Resolve is deep bulk — a card you pick up as an afterthought when ordering infect staples. The narrow condition keeps demand low enough that the price is unlikely to climb outside a breakout poison-heavy Commander precon pushing the archetype into more hands.
