Conviction is a one-mana white Aura that grants +0/+3 and, crucially, can bounce itself back to your hand for one white mana — that self-return trigger is what makes it matter. In Displacer Kitten and Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice builds, that repeated cast-from-hand loop is the engine, not the buff.

Commanders with the highest synergy

Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice
Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice tutors an Aura onto the battlefield whenever you cast another Aura, and Conviction's bounce ability means you can recast it turn after turn to keep chaining tutors — it's one of the most efficient loop pieces in the deck.

Pearl-Ear, Imperial Advisor
Pearl-Ear, Imperial Advisor rewards casting spells and generating value from low-cost white permanents, and Conviction's repeated self-bounce lets you stack triggers every turn at minimal mana investment.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|

| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Conviction is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but the only formats where it sees real play are Commander and Pauper. In Commander, it earns its slot exclusively in Aura-based combo decks — outside of those, the stat buff is irrelevant and the bounce is a novelty. In Pauper, creature-based white Aura decks occasionally use it as a recursive threat-enabler, though it sits near the bottom of the priority list. Conviction does nothing for aggressive or midrange shells in any format and is essentially unplayable in Legacy, Modern, or Pioneer outside of extremely narrow brews.

Pricing data for Conviction isn't currently available, but it's a common-rarity Aura with a narrow competitive footprint, which historically keeps these cards well under a dollar. If you're building Light-Paws, Emperor's Voice and don't already own a copy, it should be a bulk-bin pickup.
