In Commander, Contemplation finds its narrowest but most viable home: life-gain synergy decks that cast enough cheap permanents to turn 1-life trickles into meaningful engine fuel. Legacy and Vintage legality is largely academic — neither format has any interest in a slow enchantment that gains 1 life per cast when faster, more impactful options dominate. Oathbreaker shares Commander's multiplayer pace, and the same life-gain commanders that want Contemplation there will want it here. Everywhere else it's simply not legal, which is no loss to those formats.
