Common Cause gives every creature you control +1/+1 and vigilance as long as you have more opponents than anyone else — which in a four-player Commander pod means it's essentially always on. Three mana for a permanent anthem with a built-in evasion-adjacent upside is a real rate, and any go-wide token deck wants it.

Commander is where Common Cause lives. The condition — having more opponents than any other player — is trivially met in a four-player pod from turn one, so you're getting a unconditional anthem for the entire game. Legacy and Vintage allow it, but one-on-one formats collapse the condition immediately, making it a three-mana do-nothing the moment your opponent has the same count. Oathbreaker is the one two-player-adjacent format where the math can still work if the pod is larger, but the card's ceiling is squarely in multiplayer Commander.
