Coalition Flag turns any creature into a lightning rod — enchant your most important utility piece and every attack or targeted removal spell gets redirected to it, buying you a full combat or interaction cycle of protection. The payoff is real, but it's a two-card setup that collapses the moment the enchanted creature dies, so you're trading a card slot for a conditional shield.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Coalition Flag is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker — formats where it sees essentially zero competitive play. In Commander it has a genuine niche: protecting a critical creature from targeted removal or forced attacks for one or two key turns, especially in Aura-based or Voltron builds. Legacy and Vintage move too fast for a two-mana Aura that doesn't affect the board state offensively, and neither format has a shell that wants this effect. Oathbreaker follows the same logic as Commander but on a smaller scale — if your Planeswalker needs its signature spell or a key creature protected, Coalition Flag can buy a turn, though the slot is usually better spent on interaction.

Price Context
Current price
$0.19 bulk tier
At $0.19, Coalition Flag is deep bulk — you're paying almost nothing for a card with a narrow role and low demand. Don't expect the price to move; it has no competitive applications and only occasional Commander play, so pick it up cheaply for a specific Aura build and don't look for any return on it.
