Circle of Protection: Shadow blankets your life total against every shadow creature on the board for a single white mana per prevention trigger — efficient coverage if shadow is a real threat at your table. Outside of dedicated shadow-creature metas, it does nothing and belongs in the bulk box.

Circle of Protection: Shadow is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but shadow as a keyword is narrow enough that it rarely warrants a mainboard slot in any of them. In Commander the shadow creature pool is small and largely underpowered, so the enchantment sits dead against the vast majority of tables. Legacy and Vintage have more shadow creatures in circulation — Dauthi Voidwalker sees Legacy play — but targeted removal handles individual threats more efficiently than a blanket prevention effect. Pauper is the one format where a shadow-heavy opponent can be a genuine recurring problem, and at one white mana Circle of Protection: Shadow at least asks nothing of your mana beyond activation.
