Chained Throatseeker card art
Chained Throatseeker is a five-mana 4/4 with infect that can only attack alone — a glass-cannon threat that demands a dedicated poison-counter shell to justify the restriction. Outside of that shell, the unblockable clause rarely compensates for the tempo cost of not attacking with your other creatures.

In Commander, Chained Throatseeker belongs in infect decks trying to poison out the table — ten counters is a low bar when unblockable damage stacks fast, but the solo-attacker clause means you need evasion support and pump spells to close before opponents stabilize. Pauper is the format where it actually competes on rate; five mana is steep there too, but infect is a real archetype and unblockable is a meaningful keyword at common. In Legacy and Vintage the card is legal but irrelevant — faster infect threats exist and the restriction is unacceptable at that power level. Modern has Phyrexian Crusader and Inkmoth Nexus doing the same job with far less friction.
