Case of the Gorgon's Kiss puts a deathtouch counter on one of your creatures the moment it enters, with a solved trigger that poisons every opponent each upkeep for the rest of the game. Two mana for that immediate upgrade and a potentially game-ending clock is a genuine rate — the catch is that solving the case requires your creature to deal combat damage to a player, which any competent table will play around.

In Commander, Case of the Gorgon's Kiss earns its slot in decks that already want deathtouch — Vorpal Sword strategies, Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons poison builds, or any shell that trades creatures for maximum value — and the solved upkeep trigger threatens a slow poison kill that tables can't ignore. Outside Commander, the case mechanic's payoff is too slow for competitive formats: Modern and Pioneer have no patience for a two-mana enchantment that requires combat damage to turn on its best effect, and Legacy and Vintage are simply out of the question. Standard is its natural home if a deathtouch synergy deck ever becomes viable, but the card hasn't broken through there either.

$0.07 bulk tier
At $0.07, Case of the Gorgon's Kiss is pure bulk — pick up a copy without thinking about it. Bulk rares with narrow synergy requirements rarely climb, so treat it as a free inclusion for the right deck rather than a spec.
